WHAT: The Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma is able to co-host the event thanks to a generous grant from Speedway Children’s Charities Atlanta and the organizational and instructional support from Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta.
Sports Medicine Education Course – 2 hours of didactic and 2 hours of hands-on simulation (4 hours total) to discuss the continuum of athletic injuries, with a focus on concussions, emergency action plans and spinal injury management. Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to discuss emergency action plans for sports injuries in young athletes and how all members of the care team (athletic trainer, coach, EMS, etc.) should work together.
WHEN: Sunday, June 24; Registration opens at 8 am, class is from 9 am – 1 pm
WHERE: Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA – free parking
WHO: Youth and high school coaches, athletic trainers, sports medicine first responders, EMS and emergency department staff
COST: $20
